Redtread Honda Morocco
Off-road Motorcycle Tours
The emphasis on this tour is enjoyment.
There is a myth that Morocco is not for the novice off roader...."too difficult, you must ride 200km's of tough terrain each day, too challenging, all tours are styled on you being a Dakar racer"....
This isn't the case with Redtread Honda Morocco tours so read on......
We not only offer an amazing offroad motorcycling experience, but also off-road motorbike tuition and motorcycle training. You will receive, if you want it, tuition each and every day as the conditions and terrain changes and your technique improves.
Where better to go to an off-road motorcycling school than Redtread and the sunny sand dunes of Morocco riding the best dirt bike available - The Honda CRF
A Honda CRF450x is not a daunting motorcycle.
Just think, a Ferrari F430 will take you to the chippy and back at 30 miles per hour as well as being able to take you around a race circuit and scare the life out of you at 200 miles per hour if you press the loud pedal a lot.
The CRF450x is exactly the same and goes as fast as you make it.
A larger capacity motorcycle is actually easier and more forgiving to ride off road than it's lesser capacity siblings as it has more torque available thus making it more forgiving.
Plus we have specially lowered bikes for the vertically challenged with lowered suspension linkages and lowered seat foams so the bike is actually around the same height as the renowned CRF230f.
We will experience rough and rugged terrains, as well as riding in vast dunes of soft sand and dry lake beds where you can really let rip and have some fun.
We offer various holiday packages to suit your needs and are flexible enough to set up your own tour specific to what you would like to get out of your trip. We offer week long trips for maximum number of 8 people.
We will check out the best priced flight times on your behalf.
The Novice to off-road tour
Who should come on this tour ?
This tour is ideal for anyone who has no off-road experience at all, or very little off-road experience or an off road rider who would like a scenic tour through Morocco at a more sedate pace.
We would ask that all riders have their road licence for at least 3 years and should consider themselves to be a competant road rider.
The adventure starts as soon as your flight lands in Marrakech. From here you have a 4 hour, 230km road transfer by air conditioned car or minibus over the hugely spectacular High Atlas Mountain range on the infamous Tizi-n-Tichka pass. The scenery you will be taken through is simply amazing. The mountain road peaks at approx 9000 feet above sea level and reveals more suprises around every bend.
(Alternatively, you can fly to Ouarzazate via Casablanca using Royal Air Maroc)
Your next stop is the 3 star Hotel in the centre of Ouarzazate which we use as our starting and finishing point on the Tour.
We will get you signed in and get you and all your gear prepared for the start of your adventure the following day.
The riding will include stony tracks, huge open expanses of barren land, dried up lake beds called Chotts, fesh fesh area, dunes and some connecting roads.
You will stay in the larger towns called Ouarzazate, Zagora, Merzouga, Tazzarine, Boulmane Dades and pass through numerous tiny villages literally in the middle of nowhere where the locals will come out to meet and wave at you.
Lunch will be in the middle of no-where, under a canopy each riding day and will consist of either a cooked meal taken at a distant Auberge or will prepared for you by the Redtread Honda Morocco team.
Novice Tour is 7 nights stay and 6 days riding covering approx 1000kms.
Experienced Tour offers 7 nights stay and 6 days ride covering approx 1200kms.
We can also set up Expert tours.
Definition of a novice rider
3 years road licence at least, but never ridden off-road or only done a little bit, maybe a little green laneing and would enjoy an easier ride through the fabulous scenery as well as more basic tuition to get the most out of your trip to Africa.
Definition of an experienced rider
Ridden quite a bit off-road and feels confident off-road. May have competed in local enduros and events. More advanced off-road tuition offered.
Definition of an expert rider
Someone who has competed regularly in off-road events at clubman/expert level and are skilled on an off-road bike. For this rider, the tuition will be much more focused to help the rider with any specific adjustments necessary to help him be more skilled on an off-road bike. |

What will you see?
After spending time in Morocco, there are three main things that strike you... the scenery, the people and the camels !!!
Take a look at the photos on our web site, it's easy to see the natural beauty of Morocco, it's difficult however to get an idea of the size and scale of the place from photos... but you can try to imagine.
What the photos cannot do is to help you to get to know the amazing people you will meet on your short visit to Morocco. These are the kind of experiences that get into your head and then stay there forever.
Remember this place is a 3rd world country. I saw kids with no shoes, punting bald motorbike tyres along a dirt road near their village with sticks. The huge smiles they had on their faces and the pure happiness that poured from them was incredible. These kids come over to you and ask in French for pens and paper... they don't want your money... remember the saying "money cannot buy you happiness", these kids have no need for money as they are happy with the precious little they have.
Why not bring some of this stuff out with you, colouring books, crayons, pens and the shoes that your kids have grown out of and put it all onto the back-up truck. When we get to a remote village, we'll stop and you can give the kids the stuff you brought yourself... I guarantee the smile that the kids give back to you will make you do this again and again.
In the Hotel, local Berber people arrived from out of nowhere with a camel train. They unloaded their 30 or so camels, ate, set a fire and then played their drums and sang for us all for a few hours under the night sky whilst we watched and drank beer.
What about lunch?
Whilst on tour, the lunch stop (included in your tour price) will be taken at the side of the trail picnic style or at a distant Auberge where cooked fresh meats, salads and fruit will be prepared for you. Either the back up truck or the riders will carry food for lunch on picnic days, depending on our location.
